1. Why is now such an important moment for the water and bioeconomy sectors?

In Portugal we haven’t been able yet to get a really circular model for biosolids management since utilities are now suffering an incredible increase in the service of biosolids management by others. We are now implementing a new circular model withing the AdP Group and looking for sustainable partnerships with key players such as farmers and forest producers, so this is the right moment to inspire and be inspired by other circular sustainable models that are happing worldwide.

2. What is the biggest opportunity in wastewater and resource recovery?

The biggest opportunity is transforming wastewater from a cost center into a source of valuable resources. Recovering energy, nutrients, reclaimed water, and biogenic carbon can simultaneously strengthen environmental performance, reduce dependency on virgin resources, and create new revenue streams.

3. Who are you hoping to connect with at the WEX Global Bioeconomy Summit?

I am looking forward to connecting with utilities, technology innovators, solution providers, industry leaders, and policymakers who share the ambition of accelerating the transition to a circular bioeconomy. Collaboration across sectors will be essential to scale innovative solutions and deliver tangible environmental and economic impact.
