The WEX Global Bioeconomy Summit (WEX-BIO) brings together the leaders shaping the transition from linear waste management to circular bio-resource systems.
As pressures on water, energy, food and materials intensify, wastewater and organic waste are increasingly recognised as strategic assets. When integrated with modern treatment systems, these flows form the basis of circular systems producing renewable energy, recovering nutrients, generating bio-based materials and supplying reclaimed water.
At the centre of this transformation is the evolution of wastewater infrastructure into urban bio-refineries, linking cities, agriculture, industry and energy systems into connected value chains.
The WEX-BIO Awards showcase the best examples of circular economy strategies in the water sector. The Awards are open to all companies or organisations that have made a significant contribution to the water and wastewater sector, with special emphasis on innovative energy reduction and environmental considerations; the sustainable future; financial resilience, and innovation. The winners of the four categories are chosen by an international, cross-sector panel of judges.
