Cambi
Founding Circle Partner
Cambi helps wastewater utilities accelerate the shift to a circular bioeconomy by turning sewage sludge into valuable resources, including renewable energy and high-quality biosolids for use as a soil product or waste-to-energy feedstock.
Established in 1989 and headquartered in Asker, Norway, Cambi is the world’s leading provider and pioneer of thermal hydrolysis technology, with more than 90 references across 25 countries, serving many of the world’s foremost wastewater utilities.
The Thermal Hydrolysis Process (THP) breaks down complex organic matter in sludge, making it more digestible for anaerobic digestion. This typically halves final sludge volumes, increases biogas production by up to 50%, and lowers operating costs while improving environmental compliance.
By increasing biogas yields, improving digestion efficiency and producing safer, pathogen-free biosolids, Cambi’s technology helps utilities reduce transport and disposal needs, optimise incineration or drying strategies, and make better use of limited treatment capacity.
In doing so, Cambi enables utilities to cut emissions, recover more value from existing infrastructure and meet the demands of population growth, urbanisation and net-zero targets, supporting the transition to circular wastewater management.
