As Portugal’s national water utility and host utility for WEX-BIO, Águas de Portugal’s partnership reflects the growing role of the water sector in enabling a circular bioeconomy. WEX-BIO will explore how wastewater treatment assets can evolve beyond traditional service provision to become platforms for renewable energy generation, nutrient recovery, reclaimed water and other bio-based resources. By connecting utilities with agriculture, industry, energy providers and investors, the summit aims to accelerate practical collaboration and the scale-up of circular solutions across the wider bioresources value chain.

WEX-BIO will bring together leaders from across water, agriculture, energy, industry and finance to address the technological, regulatory and commercial barriers facing the sector, while building the partnerships needed to scale innovation globally.
